Epsilor’s COMBATT NATO 6T Lithium-Iron-Phosphate batteries have been integrated in an Air Transportable Combat Vehicle (ATTV) military vehicle replacing traditional lead acid batteries as part of the kickoff of the Energy Management ATTV VECTOR project of the Dutch army, in which Epsilor’s partner Defenture is participating.
Epsilor’s COMBATT line of 6T batteries provides the highest energy density in the market. Compliant with the US ARMY MIL-PRF-32525B safety and functional requirements, this line of batteries has been tested and selected by numerous leading defense vehicle manufacturers and users on four continents.
Modern combat vehicles operate numerous onboard electronic systems that require extensive continuous electric power. Manned and unmanned turrets, missile launchers, radars and active protection systems, jammers, C3 systems, situational awareness, air conditioning, and other power consumers have become integral parts of today’s armored vehicles. This high energy demand applies not only when the vehicle is on the move or during its short stops, but also during stationary missions often called “silent-watch”.
Supplying the vehicle with sufficient energy and high-power rates during silent-watch is especially important in asymmetric and urban warfare, at static positions, when vehicles face a wide range of threats, keeping their acoustic and thermal signature low and saving fuel for later maneuvering.
Defenture integrated the most diverse and custom-made systems on the VECTOR. During this project, Defenture has cooperated together with the customer in order to integrate three different Energy Management solutions which will meet the requirements for an experimental case.
Three ATTV vehicles have been equipped with three different, fully integrated energy management, systems which will be tested thoroughly by the end users over the next few months. The aim of this project is to map out future energy consumption and to find the best solution to facilitate this increased energy consumption within operational limits. In particular, the objective of being statically deployable for at least a certain number of hours will lead the final decision-making process.
Epsilor’s COMBATT line of Li-Ion vehicle batteries will be showcases at the company’s Stand H492, Hall 6 at Eurosatory 2022, which will take place in Paris, June 13-17, 2022.
